I am a middle school teacher, so I get to interact with probably a hundred students a day as well as my colleagues. I see teachers who are worn down, and students who need a pick me up all the time, but today I am going to do something about it. I am bringing this card to school for a teacher in need of a good laugh. I don't know who will receive it yet, but I'll know it when I see it.
We teachers love to know everything about what is happening in the school and with our students. #dontjudgeus #wespillthetea
Here are some pictures of how I made this little snark card, and a few little things I did to make it special.
I stamped this cutie on the back! Love!
What card doesn't benefit from a little envelope art?
For the student I want to encourage I went simple. I want my students to see me as someone in whom they can confide. These little notes can change a kid's day or even week! If you aren't a teacher, maybe you have a kid of your own you can give a little paper love to. Think of your siblings or a friend you haven't spoken to in a while as well. Cards open up lines of communication, let people know that they are cared for and loved, and can brighten up even the gloomiest day. Who wouldn't love to get a sweet little card like this in the mail?
Make sure to comment below and let me know how you plan on being kind to someone today, and you may win 25 beautiful Unity stamps yourself. Use your art for something positive!

I love the idea of a just because card. We all know someone who could use one. Of course, the snarky one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMine too. Just so fun.
DeleteLove these!! especially the students cards, wonderful coloring!!
ReplyDeleteThose poppies are just so easy to color! I could make entire sets of those.
DeleteI adore your snarky card! Great design and fabulous coloring! Those poppies are gorgeous! You did a great job this week!
ReplyDeleteDarn it I missed a day or two! This stupid job of mine!
ReplyDeleteI love this card- colors, presentation and starkly humor❤️
Julie
What a great idea! Love all 3 of your cards, but the first is my favorite. Must be the snark. 😄
ReplyDeleteShannon, this is such great inspiration. I make cards a lot, but usually they're occasion cards. I'm going to start using my Unity stamps for pick me up, just because, and thinking of you cards. Their stamps are perfect for those non-occasions. Great cards, btw!
ReplyDeleteI love these, love how you colored the poppies. I taught for 30 years and you are so right, some days someone be it teacher or student needs a little pick me up. Whoever gets these you will have made their day and will be so happy through the weekend.
ReplyDeleteShannon, this was my favorite day reading your blog...what a great idea. Thank you for the past 5 days
ReplyDeleteI really like how you did your week of GIU. I know how much it means to receive a card with a handwritten note in it. It can really brighten a day up a lot.
ReplyDeleteThis world needs more kindness! I'm going to send a card to a friend in need today. Thanks for all of the inspiration and humor!
ReplyDeleteThe cards are beautiful and I also have many cards I have been holding on to for just the right occasion. I know my grandma is really depressed so o am going to choose one for her. Thanks for reminding me by I do this.
ReplyDeleteI love the card you created. The paper, the stamp and beautiful coloring. I love how you added a button. The envelope is just adorable!! I love your idea of student cards. Love your inspiration. Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so special. What a wonderful and thoughtful idea. As always, you are inspiring us. Thank you for sharing so much with us this week.
ReplyDeleteShannon, this was such a fun week. I am sad it’s over. Your cards are just darling!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards. Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove these! It takes almost no time at all to be kind but the outcomes of kindness can make a persons day/month and more. I worked in special education for 31 years and although it could be challenging it was always rewarding! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards and how you put them together. I am guilty of making cards, but only sending them for occasions instead of "just because", so you have inspired me to try and do that more.
ReplyDeleteWOW, those are both wonderful. I love the brown and blue together on the first one (and the vintage lady), and the flowers!!!!!!! WOWZERS
ReplyDeleteLove these! I used Queen of the Universe for my boss this year. She loved it!
ReplyDeleteGreat job this week Shannon. I really enjoy your enthusiasm and great ideas!
By the way ~ I love your hummingbirds on the sidebars too. That's my logo for my photography work, they are pretty special too me as they were my Mom's favorite. For my Kindness card(s) during my resent move I found 6 cards I had made with images of 3 local churches to sell. Today they are going in the mail to the appropriate Pastors and their Secretaries for all the hard work they do and for spreading the word of God. I've enjoyed your week of GIU.
ReplyDeleteWhat great cards and even more what a great way to use them!!!! Thanks so much for sharing all this week!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Donna poppies are always a fave - love both of them! And your snarky card is going to make someone smile for sure - if not, get them to therapy fast!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me smile all week long, Shannon!
Love this!!!! Being kind is so important in this crazy rushed impolite world. Thank you for being one of those people who try to spread kindness as far as you can!!! Loved your GIU week!!!
ReplyDeleteI keep trying to comment and it's not appearing for some reason. If you get 5 comments from me just ignore all but one. You've had a great week as GIU girl...you are GIU girl all the time, though. I love your love for Unity. Your snarky spirit always makes me smile. Keep sharing your cards...on here and in person. I know they are sure to leave people smiling. Have a great weekend, girlie!
ReplyDeleteThat was the kindest comment. Thanks Donna. I do feel like a GIU girl all the time. I love this little company so much.
Delete*squeals of delight!* All that card wonderfulness...and envelope art on top!!!! Well, this week I have learned that humor and spreading the love is what you are all about with your very creative artwork! It has sure been fun to see your work and how you create it and getting to know you a little bit better! It was a pleasure!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. It has been wonderful to comment with all of you. And you have pretty much nailed it. Humor and art. That's me. With a side of education.
DeleteLove that fun card! Everyone can use a good laugh every day. And your note cards are darling; love that flower.
ReplyDeleteI would like to think that when I pass, one of the words people would use to describe me would be "kind". I truly try to be kind to everyone, every day. It can go a long way to just one person who really needs it! You never know. Thanks for a lovely week of inspiration.
Brilliant ideas for your 'no reason' cards.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards. I am going to make a thank you card for my six year old granddaughter who is here to help make Christmas cookies. We have fun crafting together so I know she will love it.
ReplyDeleteI retired from school, special education secretary. I understand about school. Miss my special kids but not going to work. I am being kind to my sister in law she asked me for 2 special birthday cards and I am finishing them and they are coming for pizza, salad and apple pie tomorrow and maybe playing some cards. Thank you for the week it was great
ReplyDeleteStunning as usual Edwards! ❤️ What a great week of inspiration you’ve had.
ReplyDeletethese are all so great! awesome week!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards of encouragement for your coworkers and students. <3 Thanks for being a wonderful GIU girl this week.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! I have so enjoyed your GIU week! I am a former teacher turned nurse and my bestie is a teacher, so can so relate to your purpose here and appreciate your sharing these! I’ve always said there is a special place in heaven for jr high teachers, bc even the good kids are often jerks in jr high! So bless you enormously for still having the energy to share all of this with us. Now I see more clearly why our level of snark is so close! Great week Shannon! I’ve been making my bestie some cards to share with her teacher friends for just these types of occasions. May have to add that top snark in the stack!
ReplyDeleteLove the color combinations. Thanks for sharing all week. I learned a few things!
ReplyDeleteI like your just because cards.. The first one is my fave, tho... 😃. I showed my kindness today by giving one of my inner circle girlfriends some great, but funny as always, advice on how to deal with her Snoopy Mom. She has been stressing out because her Mom's coming to visit and she hasn't finished unpacking yet. (They just moved 3 weeks ago.). She gets my humor and it helps reduce her stress.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore your snarky one!!! It's so cool!!!
Beautiful as always! I have every intention to send just because cards but time slips away. I need to be better about sending them
ReplyDeleteWhat a week! You rocked it! Thanks for sharing and your wonderful writing and art.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards to encourage fellow teachers and your students. I helped fellow crafters set up their tables.
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage lady. Your coloring is amazing too. Make sure you let us know who the cards were received. I used to work in the public school system and know all too well how worn out teachers are and how hard middle school is for kids.
ReplyDeleteLove the fun sentiment on your first card! I hope it brightened someone's day! And beautiful color combos on your lovely floral cards!
ReplyDeleteTeaching is not an easy job! Awesome cards. I love your top post- you have a way with color and balance on your cards. Crazy talent- hard to believe you have just been at card making a short time!
ReplyDeleteWhoops-forgot- going to paint with mother today. She lives with me and she loves art : ) She used to teach China painting..... I love doing nice things for her : )
DeleteGreat idea and great cards. I love your take on 'Johnny Karate's Life Lessons', and I really enjoyed your week as a GIU gal!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cards! Hope they cheered people up! I just sent some random set of people birthday cards! Hope they enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteomg...love this card....I'm being kind to me...ordering more Unity!!!
