Welcome to my first day as a Growing in Unity gal. I'm so excited to be sharing some projects with you this week, in case you can't get enough of my incessant posting on the Show and Tell. For those of you who have not seen my work, I hope you enjoy yourself. For my #shanfans out there, (yes I just made that up) welcome and I look forward to getting to know you more this week as we comment together.
I have a method to my madness this week. If you have seen and love the TV show Parks and Recreation, you will of course know who Johnny Karate is. On his TV show he encourages the kids to do five things each day: make something, learn something, karate chop something, try something new, and be nice to someone. So, this week we are going to do just that. Day one, we are going to MAKE SOMETHING!
Today I am making something that I thought of because of Unity's "not a card" challenge. So we are going to make some snarky lady magnets.
I bought these little mini canvases from a local craft store called Pat Catans, but I'm pretty sure Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics have them too. I painted them with a little acrylic paint I had lying around, in pink, teal, light blue and yellow.
thanx for the ideas for the stamps....I have them and am always stumped for card ideas...this takes it up a notch!

DeleteGreat idea and execution, Shannon! Thanks for the inspiration. I haven't made magnets in a long time but I think this might be a good gift idea to tuck in with the gift cards I always send my nieces for Christmas.

Thanks for your kindness!
DeleteThe distressing made these even better! It was fun shopping with you that day!
ReplyDeleteIt surely was!!!
DeleteGreat way to give to someone to keep. You think about giving a card and they get thrown out but a magnet will be there forever. I am thinking about book markers too inside a card for keeping
ReplyDeleteI hate the thought of handmade cards being thrown away! Who would commit such a crime?
DeleteNice job Edwards ❤️❤️❤️ I really love the pink one!
ReplyDeleteYeah, PMS Peggy is my favorite image.
DeleteThese are ahhhhhmazing!!!!! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you very much (in an Elvis voice).
DeleteWhat a great idea! I believe Walmart carries the canvas' also in case. tigo

ReplyDeleteWhen in doubt, distress it out.
DeleteWhat a great little gift! And the distressing was the perfect finishing touch. The yellow one would be perfect for my fridge door. :)
ReplyDeleteHehehe. They are on my fridge now until I decide to make gifts of them. I'm really enjoying that.
DeleteI love this idea. So dang cute! grr
ReplyDeleteThanks! SDC!

ReplyDeleteYes. I am pumped about it!!!
DeleteThese are really cool. What do you mean by distress?? I would rag up the edges, or do you mean you sandpapered them? Or added distress ink?? Whatever you did it really made them pop. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI used some distress ink around the edges! Good question.
DeleteThanks. Hugz
DeleteLove these! Just bought some little canvases last week and had no idea why...now I do :) Thanks for the great idea!

ReplyDeleteI think the distressing was just right.
Oh, thank you so much. Unity has the best pun and sass stamps.
DeleteI'm a huge Parks and Recs fan as well as a #shanfan..My hubby sings Little Sebastian when his band plays out and I get the biggest kick out of it when someone realizes its from that show. You did such an awesome job on these magnets...love, love, love them. I also love that you are constantly sharing and encouraging the Unity group. Can't wait to see what you have for tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYes! Donna we are kindred spirits. I just thought of making Gary Gergich magnets to go with the "eggs bacon and toast" song. Unity has all three images!
DeleteThese are really a neat idea! Love using mini canvas for different medias!
ReplyDeleteIt was my first attempt at ever using them!
DeleteThe magnets are fantastic! After you distressed the edges did you seal them again?
ReplyDeleteI didn't. I just let it dry, but that would probably help it hold up better.
